More Stories - Crossing the Finish Line

Mar 26, 2023

Since the launch of our More Stories campaign in 2019, we have been dreaming of how God will transform our Mill St property into a place that embodies our Highrock values of Hospitality, Honesty, Humility, Curiosity, and Solidarity. And despite many obstacles along the way, we are so close!

Faithful to the End

From the beginning, we knew this process was more of a marathon than a sprint, and now we're asking you to help us cross the finish line.

The Highrock Arlington congregation has generously given $4.75M to the campaign. Amazing! With pledges, a construction loan, and significant contingencies built into our budget, we believed we had enough to complete the project. In the first year of construction we discovered five significant unexpected expenses. (For more detail see this photo page

Our contingency was consumed by significant construction cost escalation caused by supply chain disruptions and labor shortages. The pandemic delayed construction in the first months and then caused a backlog of projects in Boston. These factors left no margin in the budget for the unexpected expenses.

Furthermore, we experienced an eight-month delay in the project while we waited for Eversource to connect the building to permanent power. This delay accrued a number of additional and unforeseen expenses.

In total, the project is anticipated to end $1M above budget. We are inviting the church to close the gap over the next year.

Would you consider donating or pledging today, and helping us cross the finish line?

We have also put together an FAQ to provide more information about these additional costs and other considerations you may be interested in. If you have additional questions, please reach out to our Executive Director of Operations, Drew Hunter (drew@highrock.org).

Thank you

We believe God blesses the seed planted in faith! Any amount pledged or donated is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. Wondering if a new space can really make a difference? Just ask a kid or a Kidsrock leader - they are already enjoying the new space each Sunday and their enthusiasm speaks for itself!
